My Quest for Health

Most people who know me well know that I have struggled with digestive issues and strange health problems a good bit of my life. It is very frustrating because oftentimes I have been told they do know know what is wrong with me, but something is, and get sent from specialist to specialist. I have been told I have had  everything from MS to lupus, then have had it debunked by another specialist. Because it seems like all the doctors are guessing, I usually stop going after I get sent to two or three different doctors until something pops up again. For those who are interested, I am a person of faith, and I do pray, which I think is one of the only reasons I able to function as well as I do. This blog will be about my quest for health and what I discover works for me in hopes that others who are struggling with similar issues can find answers and live a healthy, happy life free of fear.

The latest scare I have had began in November. I had a terrible bout with food poisoning, which lead to my a terrible pain in my right side. I went to the doctor because I was afraid it could be my appendix. I was told it was gas and charged 88 dollars after insurance. Two weeks later I had a fissure which they believe was caused by an impacted colon (I have had this before).  I believe that was the most scared I had been in a long time. Again, the doctor said that was normal, and would heal in a few days. When it didn't I was sent to a specialist who diagnosed me with IBS. That basically meant the pain is normal, and I will have to deal with it. I read about diet changes I could do to help with IBS and hoped for the best.

When the pain continued, I decided to go to another doctor in hopes of an answer. He did a blood test and discovered that my WBC was high and my liver numbers were high enough to where he considered hospitalizing me. Rather than doing that, he told me to drink a lot of water for the next three days and come back for a recheck. The numbers were closer to normal when I went back, but not in the acceptable range. He wanted me to go to a specialist but I hesitated because I knew that road oh too well of doctor hopping.

Eventually I had no choice but to listen. I had chest pains so my husband took me to ER. The doctor at the ER said he thought I had esophageal spasms. I had never heard of that before, but took his word for it because what ever he have me to make them stop made the chest pains stop. I was sent to another specialist and am now preparing for a procedure where they will take a scope down my throat. I can hardly wait....of course I am being sarcastic.

I am still concerned that the specialist did not seem concerned that my side is once again hurting. I am making diet changes that I hope will help even if this doctor also tells me that he has no idea whats wrong.
